AB: The Miz vs Baron Corbin. This match should be exciting to me seeing how it’s a champion vs champion showdown between Raw and Smackdown. But the fact that the other battle between brand champions is Styles vs Lesnar, this match won’t come close to doing it for me. The Miz is amazing and I’m a huge fan of his but I haven’t been too invested in Baron Corbin as US Champion. I think this match might be the one lost in the shuffle of this stacked card. You’ll find time to grab a drink, some food, or go take a leak during this one.
SE: I know this is extremely repetitive, but the Cruiserweight title match will be a snooze fest. Enzo just isn’t my cup of tea at this point and Kalisto is a walking botch machine. I cannot see them both having a good match.
CC: Another WWE Predictions means another chance for me to rock the boat. You know who’s going to have a bad match? All ten superstars in the 5v5 Women’s elimination match. WWE does not have the best track record recently with women’s matchups hosting more than two wrestlers. If you think watching Sasha Banks almost break her neck diving through the ropes against ONE opponent is bad, try setting up spots for her in a ring with NINE other superstars. Don’t take this the wrong way, I am a big fan of most of these superstars listed in the matchup, but my bathroom break pick has all to do with WWE creative trying too hard to make sure every superstar in the women’s divisions has equal airtime. It’s not like we haven’t seen a five-on-five women’s tag match EVERY WEEK on Raw and Smackdown…
AB: The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro) vs The Usos. Both of these tag teams have been riding incredible title runs while also putting on impressive matches on a weekly basis for their respective brands. Now here they are colliding at Survivor Series. I think this match is going to be a great brawl and The Usos are going to come out on top. However, not only will they raise “The Bar”, they will push Sheamus and Cesaro to the absolute extreme, testing everything they have.
SE: The best match of the night will be The Shield vs The New Day. This will be the first big match for the reunited Shield and they’ll be facing the best 3-man tag team since the formation of The Shield. I feel like this will be the WWE Match of the year.
CC: Hold onto your butts ladies and gentlemen because WWE has actually made a positive change to a PPV match card. Crazy, right? Of course, I’m talking about WWE making the ballsy decision to have Jinder Mahal drop the WWE Championship belt the week before Survivor Series and a few weeks before WWE’s India Tour. The fact is we finally have a champion on Smackdown Live who is 100% worthy of the title earned. Styles has been the face of Smackdown Live since the brand-split and now he gets the opportunity to showcase his incredible work ethic and physical prowess against Brock Lesnar. I’d pen this match as a classic David vs Goliath scenario, but the truth is that Styles has the move-set and talent to put on a great match from bell-to-bell. Lesnar will be his usual freakishly strong self but I wouldn’t count out Styles just yet. I think both superstars will come out of this match looking stronger than ever.
AB: I’m going to go ahead and say that Team Smackdown Live is going to lose with a twist. You can’t think for a second that Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens aren’t going to make an appearance at Survivor Series. So, when they decide to show up I think it’s going to be just in time to distract Team Smackdown Live, costing them the win.
BONUS TAG: Alexa Bliss is going to continue her streak of dominating every female superstar in her path. When she leaves Charlotte beaten in the middle of the ring and walks back up the ramp, I’m feeling a Carmella cashing in her Money-in-the-Bank contract. So, there it is, the only title change of the PPV will be Carmella cashing in…take it to the bank!
SE: I have three small hot takes that I think can affect the same match. The 5v5 Men’s Survivor Series match has a LOT of star power and there is potential for so many weird matchups among the ten superstars.
- Shane will somehow eliminate Braun Strowman.
- Finn Balor will pin John Cena.
- The sole survivor in this match will be Samoa Joe.
CC: First off, I’d like to congratulate Shawn on what has to be the truest hot take that we’ve ever had in our predictions series. History shows that Shane McMahon books himself to have at least one career-defining moment in each of his matches. Eliminating the only guy in the ring who could use him as a toothpick would be classic McMahon booking.
Now onto my take. This is a spin-off of Adam’s Zayn and Owens prediction. While I completely agree that those two will interfere with the 5-on-5 Men’s elimination match, I think it will go a totally different direction. Do you know how to really stick it to a boss who thinks you’re not good enough to be in the big leagues? You walk right into his corporate elite party and knock out the biggest guy in the room. Yes, Zayn and Owens will make their presence felt at Survivor Series, but it will be from taking out multiple superstars on Team Raw at ringside. Everyone thinks that Team Raw will sweep Smackdown now that Triple H and Kurt Angle are united under one banner. In a twist of fate (no pun intended), Zayn and Owens will cheat Team Smackdown to victory and set themselves up for a big feud with the Smackdown superstars down the road.
