Outside of Wrestlemania, The Royal Rumble is the largest PPV event that the WWE has to offer on their yearly rotation. There are plenty of opportunities to shock the crowd and bring in some fresh faces or nostalgic draws. With plenty of empty spots in both the Men’s Royal Rumble match and the new Women’s Royal Rumble match, there are bound to be some moments that we will be talking about for the rest of 2018.

So, let’s get to it. Below are our predictions for the individual matches followed by a breakdown of what we hope to see in both Royal Rumble matches.

Smackdown Live Tag Team Championship: The Usos (c) vs Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin

AB: In this 2/3 falls contest between Gable & Benjamin and the USOs there were a lot of rumors leading up to this week about the recent arrest of superstar Jey Uso. Rumors stating that the USOs would possibly have to drop the titles at the Rumble due to the sudden arrest, but I don’t think this will be the case after Jey USO appeared on Smackdown Live Tuesday night in singles competition. So, it’s not paranoia, it’s the USOS taking the win home! Early Rating: C+

SE: The Usos. I feel like the Usos deserve the titles going into Mania. Also, I don’t see why the higher-ups would give Gable/Benjamin 2 wins over, arguably, the best team the on roster.

CC: As much as I want to throw a curveball and pick Gable/Benjamin, The Usos are the best team for the Smackdown Tag Titles. They bring a level of prestige and importance to them similar to The Miz and the Intercontinental Championship belt. Gable/Benjamin might get the first pin, but The Usos will do whatever it takes to retain.

RAW Tag Team Championship: Seth Rollins & Jason Jordan (c) vs The Bar

AB: The odd tag team of Seth Freakin’ Rollins and Kurt Angles REAL son Jason Jordan look to retain their championship straps this Sunday against “The Bar” Sheamus and Cesaro. In my opinion, I don’t think that Jason Jordan holding a strap is going to last much longer around here as I’m taking the Bar to win this match with Jordan eating the pin and letting down his REAL dad and CrossFit Jesus. Early Rating: B-

SE: Seth/Jordan. I honestly don’t know what they are gonna have for Seth at Mania. So, for now, hold the titles until a story is built. Could very well see the titles switching hands on Raw the next night.

CC: This cute experiment with Kurt Angle Jr. have a championship belt has been drawn out for too long. Seth Rollins deserves better than this sad program and The Bar needs to bring legitimacy back to the Raw Tag Team Championships.

WWE Championship: AJ Styles (c) vs Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn

AB: In this match I’m picking AJ Styles to retain his title against the team of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. I don’t think they would be able to successfully do a run with the first co WWE champions. This is for sure just an act to pass time although I love Kevin and Sami this won’t earn them a championship, the match itself though will more than deliver. Early Rating: A

SE: AJ. There is no way they make the WWE title co championed. The lineage and history are too much for the title to be split. Plus, AJ needs to be Champion for my title match at Mania.

CC: The reign of AJ Styles is still fresh and there is a lot more to be had before I see him dropping the belt. I love how Zayn and Owens have been booked in this program, but I see them surviving in a faux-Authority stable with Daniel Bryan more than standing at the top as co-WWE Champions.

Universal Championship: Brock Lesnar (c) vs Braun Strowman vs Kane

AB: In this battle of gigantic humans for the universal championship I think everyone agrees it’s Braun Strowman’s time for a title run. Will it happen though? I believe so. Braun is heavily featured on RAW week in and week out and is one of the top superstars WWE currently has. He’s developed to a point where he has the look of a champion that should walk around with the strap. So, I’m taking Strowman in an absolute slobber knocker! Early Rating: A-

SE: C’mon. Lesnar is main-eventing Mania and we all know it. Its Braun’s time in my opinion but I don’t see Lesnar losing here.

CC: I know everyone is expecting a Lesnar vs. Reigns program heading into Wrestlemania, but I think WWE needs to take advantage of how over Braun Strowman is right now. I fear that it will be too late to give Strowman the Universal title belt after April, so seize the moment this Sunday guys.
